Jeanne Demessieux (13.02.1921 - 11.11.1968): French, organist, pianist, composer and teacher.
1928: start studies at Montpellier Conservatoire, obtained first prizes in solfège and piano.
1933: start studies at Conservatoire Paris. Studied piano with Simon Riera and Magda Tagliaferro; composition with Henri Büsser.
1933-1962: organist at Saint-Esprit, Paris
1936-1939 and 1941-1946: private lessons with Marcel Dupré
1946: debut as a concert organist
1947: first female organist to sign a record contract with Decca
She gave more than 700 concerts in France, United Kingdom, Begium, the Nederlands, Switzerland, Germany and America.
1950-1952: professor at the Conservatoire, Nancy
1952-1968: professor at the Conservatoire Royal, Liège
1962-1968: organist at La Madeleine, Paris
1968: she died from throat cancer.
